Recon of Dugway's southern border:    07/17/2002

Beau Hackwell and I went out to the southern border of Dugway.  This is one of the areas described by the witness Dave.  We hit Clover (Rush Valley) and saw my folks, then we went over Johnson's pass thru Terra and on over to Dugway's Main Gate.  We then went south and on over to Simpson's Springs, Fish Springs, and then finally to Callao.  We went about three miles north of Callao and set up for a Skywatch.  The journey was uneventful.  The sky was overcast, and it rained or drizzled most of the night.  The Skywatch was uneventful.  On the trip back we saw a lone antelope, and one Wildlife vehicle at Fish Springs, this is the only vehicle we saw for a 12 hour period.  We found what looked like a makeshift Helipad, made out of thick black and white plastic sheeting, and ventured deep inside a mine shaft, till we reached the end of the tunnel.  We heard no humming.  We then took a different route home, going to Topaz mountain and down into Lyndyl, then over to Nephi and on into Gunnison.  Perhaps it was the overcast skies, but nothing unusual was found.

Objectives:  We did recon the area but found no crop circle like formations, aerial activity, or strange sounds.  We saw one vehicle after turning south a Dugway's main gate, that was on the return trip and was a Wildlife truck at a National Wildlife Refuge.

Suggestions:  I think we should go out there with the witness, and after conferring with him, decide whether or not the Northern boundary area up by Wendover might not be a better area to do the skywatch.  Relying on the witnesses impressions.

Thanks to Dave for submitting the reports and answering numerous questions.  As we can see reports keep coming in from the Dugway area, and it is worthy of an ongoing investigation.  Hopefully the weather will work in our favor on the 26th.
